Juvenile sought

girard

Police are looking for a juvenile male who robbed two women at gunpoint about 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of East Liberty Street.

The victim, who lost her purse with identification and $1,420 in cash, told police the juvenile had come to her door earlier and was looking for “Tim.” She told him no one by that name lived there. Later, when the victim and a neighbor were in a car on the street preparing to leave, the juvenile confronted them with a handgun and took the victim’s purse.

The juvenile fled, and a neighbor, who heard yelling, chased him. The juvenile fired a shot; the neighbor was unhurt.

Another resident on the street reported a similar incident of the juvenile’s coming to the door that day, but that neighbor was not robbed.

Man charged

NEW CASTLE, Pa. (AP)

A city man is jailed on charges that he sent lewd text messages to a girl staying in his home, then spanked and indecently assaulted her.

Online court records do not list an attorney for 42-year-old Brad Korpela, of New Castle, who’s charged with aggravated indecent assault, simple assault and harassment. A phone listed in his name was not in service Friday.

Korpela reportedly sent text messages to a girl sleeping in his home, instructing her to come downstairs so he could spank her early Saturday. Police say Korpela did that with a wooden paddle with holes drilled in it but only after ordering her to undress and bend over a chair. Police say Korpela threatened to do the same thing to the girl’s friend, also sleeping upstairs, if she resisted.
