Flag football teams battle rain

Despite playing in a downpour for part of the day, the Green Bay Packers turned in a solid performance during Week 2 of Youngstown Youth Flag Football Association action on Sunday.

Playing in the 5-6 year-old division, the Packers scored two victories on the day, knocking off the Redskins and Rams. The two wins gave Green Bay a lead in the division standings.

In the 7-8 division, the Buffalo Bills took care of the Miami Dolphins and are poised to make a run for the league championship.

The returning champs in the 9-11 division, New York Jets, face their toughest match-up so far this season when they play the Packers at 3:30 this Sunday.

The 12-14 Patriots are one of two teams in this division that will compete for a championship.

Week 3 is set to kick off tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at Boardman High School.
