University of Dayton says enrollment above target
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — The University of Dayton says first-year enrollments are running well ahead of targets, with a boost from out-of-state students.
The southwest Ohio school says nearly 2,000 enrollment deposits have come in as of the traditional deadline of May 1. That’s 200 above the goal.
Dayton says it is seeing strong growth in out-of-state enrollments, with 48 percent this year. Strong growth came from states including Connecticut, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
School officials say students are attracted to the private school’s academic reputation and its Catholic, Marianist philosophy.
Dayton’s total enrollment this academic year is about 11,200.
