Gunman tackled after fatal shooting at Utah park

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Witnesses tackled a gunman and held him until police arrived after a fatal shooting at a Salt Lake City park packed with families watching Little League baseball games.

Photographer Michael Kunde tells the Deseret News that a coach instructed players to get down and two or three people jumped on the shooter after gunfire erupted about 6 p.m. Thursday at Riverside Park.

Salt Lake City police Det. Lisa Pascadlo says the shooting apparently happened after two men argued.

The wounded man died later at a hospital. His name and the name of the alleged gunman weren’t immediately made public.

Police had so many witnesses that some were taken by bus to the police station for questioning.
