Struthers 3, Hubbard 1

STRUTHERS

Ryan Young held Hubbard to one run over six innings, giving up five hits with three strikeouts to get the win. Joey Diloretto and Dylan Duchek each had two hits for Struthers (10-8, 4-2 AAC White), which took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Kory Hopkinson and Justin Rosile each had two hits for Hubbard (2-9, 0-5).

Springfield 18, United 9

HANOVERTON

Nick Russell had five hits and five RBIs to lead Springfield (11-6, 11-1 ITCL Tier One), which can clinch an outright league title with a win today at South Range. The Tigers also won league titles in 2008 and 2010. Cody Pitzo had three hits and scored twice, Brad Ferraro had three hits and three RBIs and Jake Noble had three hits and two RBIs. For United, Josh McLaughlin had two hits and scored a run and Josh Miller had three hits, including a homer, and scored four runs.

SOFTBALL

South Range 7, East Palestine 6

BEAVER TWP.

Darrian Yanek hit a walk-off, two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift South Range (18-3, 10-0 ITCL Tier One). Kristin Robinson tripled, singled and drove in two runs, Madison Yanek had two hits, including a homer, and Stevie Taylor had two hits for the Raiders. For East Palestine (10-4, 6-2), Logan Gatchel singled and doubled and Nicole Kiehl had two hits, including a homer.

Western Reserve 15, Leetonia 2

BERLIN CENTER

Sissy Stubbs and April Lude combined on a one-hitter to lead Western Reserve (15-5, 11-0 ITCL Tier Two) to its 49th straight league victory. Cassie Burchett went 4-for-4 with a grand slam, two doubles, six RBIs and three runs. Maggie Stubbs added a double, single, two RBIs and two runs and Stubbs had three hits, scored three runs and drove in two. For Leetonia, Staci Medved doubled.

Hubbard 10, Struthers 0

STRUTHERS

Haley Thirion tossed a four-hit shutout with six strikeouts and no walks to lead Hubbard (6-4, 2-3 AAC White), which took a 6-0 lead after the first inning. Samantha Dudley and Brittany Lunt each had three hits and scored twice, while Keri Durina had two hits and scored twice and Devon Zelonish had two hits and two RBIs. Struthers is 8-12, 3-2.

Ursuline 10, Brookfield 0

YOUNGSTOWN

Nicholette Madertiz struck out a dozen batters and added a two-run home run in the third inning for the Fighting Irish (11-7). Teammate Brianna Curd had three hits, including a triple and a double, and brought in a pair of runners. Danielle DeChristafaro’s double was the only hit for Brookfield (5-11).
