Harry Meshel, a Youngs-town State University trustee and a jazz fan, is donating a sculptures of three legendary musicians to YSU’s Jazz Studies program in the Dana School of Music.
Meshel, also former president of the Ohio Senate, will donate the sculptures at 2 p.m. Saturday at The Butler Institute of American Art. The works, by artist Ed Dwight, depict Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis.
The sculptures are part of Dwight’s “Jazz: An American Art Form,” a series of more than 70 bronzes that depict the evolution of jazz.
