Cop hurt while serving warrant

An officer was treated at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Wednesday night after he was injured while serving a warrant.

The incident happened at a Skoplee Avenue residence near Trumbull Avenue around 9:40 p.m. when several Girard police officers went to serve a warrant for aggravated menacing.

The police chief, captain and a detective responded to the scene when it was reported an officer needed assistance.

The perpetrator is in custody, but Girard dispatchers did not give names. It is not known how severe the officer’s injuries were.
