Civil War re-enactment set this weekend

The Jackson in the Valley Civil War re-enactment is Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Beaver Creek State Park, 12021 Echo Dell Road.
Admission is free for the event, sponsored by Friends of Beaver Creek State Park and hosted by the Stonewall Brigade of Beloit.
Registration for participating groups is 12:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday. Public events are from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
Events at the same time on Saturday and Sunday are: 9 a.m., children’s scavenger hunt; 9:30 a.m., parade on Saturday and church service on Sunday; noon, children’s and adult’s drill and dance; 1 p.m., live mortar fire by the 105th Ohio Volunteer Infantry; and 2 p.m., Battle for the Bridge.
On Saturday only, events include: 7 p.m., Union and Confederate social; 9 p.m., artillery night fire; and 9:30 p.m., ghost hunt/walk.
Other attractions in the park include a pioneer village with a working water-powered wooden geared grist mill, schoolhouse, wooden bridge, old iron bridge, walking wooden foot bridge, and a stand of pines for the tenting Civil War soldiers.
Re-enactors who are certified emergency medical technicians will portray Civil War doctors and medics showing how legs were amputated on the battlefield as well as other war medical procedures.
Women re-enactors in period costumes will maintain wood fires for cooking and talk about female experiences during the war.
