Armed robbery

HOWLAND

Police are investigating an armed robbery at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Dunkin’ Donuts, 1501 Niles-Cortland Road.

Two armed white men wearing dark hoodies and bandannas over their faces confronted an employee who was taking out the trash, forced her back into the store through the front door, and left through the back door, Howland police said.

Police did not release the amount of money taken.

Neighborhood cleanup

CAMPBELL

Residents are invited to help clean up Jackson Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Participants will clean up trash and plant flowers. Water, snacks and lunch will be provided. For more information, call Neighborhood Ministries at 330-755-8696.

Road to be closed

STRUTHERS

Clingan Road will be closed from Center Street to Babic Street from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday for paving. Emergency vehicles will be permitted through along with residents who live between Babic and Center.

GED testing

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Adult Basic and Literacy Education Program, University System of Ohio, will offer GED testing at 8:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Choffin Career and Technical Center.

All participants must be pre-registered and bring a photo ID. To pre-register for the test or to enroll in free classes call Youngstown ABLE at 330-744-8715.

Charity Clinic Day

The third annual Charity Clinic Day to benefit The Bummer Fund is scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdayat Animal Care Hospital, 47 Hall Ave.

The Bummer Fund, a nonprofit organization working in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, provides financial assistance to responsible and qualified pet owners in times of financial and medical crisis.

During the clinic, regular price veterinary exams and routine procedures such as nail trims, ear cleaning and vaccinations will be performed by appointment and proceeds donated to The Bummer Fund.

Appliance recycling

POLAND

An appliance recycling drive will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Poland Township Road Department, 7508 Clingan Road. Among the items accepted will be refrigerators, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, water coolers, stoves, freezers, water heaters and water softeners. Freon removal will be free of charge.

The drive is sponsored by the Mahoning County Recycling Division. Electronic items, tires and hazardous household waste will not be accepted.
