Troopers kill man while investigating Pa. meth lab

PINE GROVE, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania State Police have killed a man they say brandished a gun at troopers serving a search warrant at a suspected methamphetamine lab.

Trooper Bernard Walasavage says a trooper shot and killed 56-year-old Jeffrey Wolfe during a raid on a home in Wayne Township, Schuylkill County.

Investigators say Wolfe was armed with a shotgun when troopers burst into the home around 6 a.m. today. A trooper shot Wolfe, who was tended to by a tactical medic but died at the scene. No officers were wounded.

Inside the home police say they found a working meth lab.

The trooper who fired the fatal shot has been placed on administrative duty pending a routine investigation of the shooting.
