A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
April 24
Damage: A vehicle in the 3100 block of Dobbins Road sustained $455 in damage.
April 25
Criminal mischief: Damage was done to a yard and siding at a home in the 7500 block of Cobblers Run Drive.
April 27
Assault: A 17-year-old Poland girl suffered a minor injury after alleging her boyfriend had assaulted her in the 6500 block of Clingan Road.
April 28
Theft: A $1,350 diamond engagement ring was stolen from a residence in the 2900 block of Spitler Road.
April 30
Arrest: A traffic stop on U.S. Route 224 resulted in a charge of operating a vehicle impaired against 48-year-old Mary Ann Angelo, 229 Clingan Road, Struthers. Angelo also was cited, accused of having an expired operator’s license and improperly following an emergency vehicle.
BOARDMAN
April 27
Harassment: A Bluebird Lane man reported receiving three unwanted calls.
Domestic violence: A 16-year-old township girl was charged with the crime after her mother alleged the teen had struck the back of the accuser’s head and pulled her hair during an argument about discipline matters.
Theft: A $250 semiautomatic pistol was stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Mill Creek Drive.
Theft: Two women stole two bottles of weight-loss pills from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.
Theft: Seven Vicodin tablets were missing from a home in the 100 block of Centervale Avenue.
Theft: Someone was caught on a video-surveillance camera stealing three DVDs from Family Video, 5205 Market St.
Fraud: A man discovered his father’s stolen automated-teller-machine card was used to make about $1,000 worth of unauthorized purchases in the township.
Theft: A woman in her 30s took two pairs of shorts from Dot’s, 339 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Theft: Two people in their 30s stole $300 worth of clothing from Dollar General, 5953 South Ave.
Theft: Roughly $300 worth of clothing was taken from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.
Robbery: A woman told police a gunman age 17 or 18 wearing glasses, gray pants and a dark shirt stole her purse and fled with another person while she was in a vehicle at an East Midlothian Boulevard apartment complex.
April 28
Theft: The rear license plate was removed from a vehicle in the 7400 block of South Avenue.
Harassment: A Melbourne Avenue man reported getting numerous such calls.
Theft/criminal damaging: Someone broke a car’s window in the 7300 block of South Avenue before taking a backpack, textbooks and a bank card.
Arrest: Police pulled over a car near Applewood Boulevard, where they arrested 24-year-old John E. Sexton Jr., 347 Melrose Ave., Boardman, who was wanted by Beaver Township authorities.
Theft: An Appleridge Drive woman learned her debit card had been used without permission to make an online purchase.
Attempted burglary: A woman told officers someone had tried to break into her daughter’s Paxton Road apartment.
Identity theft: A Loretta Drive woman found unauthorized charges to her checking account, apparently after someone had bought airline tickets via the Internet.
Theft: A man took two half-gallon containers of orange juice and two bottles of vodka from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.
Harassment: An Argyle Avenue woman reported her 12-year-old daughter had received a threatening cellphone call.
Menacing: A man at the Southern Park Mall told police another man threatened to break windows at his residence if the accuser refused to offer the person a ride.
Aggravated menacing: A Rockdale Avenue man reported a caller threatened to kill him regarding a family situation.
Truck theft: A 1993 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck was stolen near Market Street and Ewing Road. Also, someone tried to steal a car from the same area.
April 29
Arrest: Police in the 7100 block of Market Street took custody of 45-year-old Lisa A. Roberts, 84 Lowellville Road, Struthers, upon learning she was wanted on two warrants from Arkansas, one of which was related to a burglary charge.
Theft: A global positioning system device, a vehicle owner’s manual and a spare key were taken from two cars in the 300 block of Melrose Avenue.
Theft by deception: A Missouri man discovered $1,000 had been withdrawn from a savings account belonging to his elderly mother, of South Avenue.
Assault: The owner of a Karago Avenue business reported a customer punched his face three times after he refused to provide a refund for a purchase. The accuser had no visible injuries.
Theft: A $400 bicycle was stolen at a Boardman-Canfield Road fast-food restaurant.
Theft: A man stole two titanium golf clubs from Dick’s Sporting Goods, 1280 Doral Drive. The theft came to $800.
April 30
Arrest: Philip M. Bergman, 40, of 1784 Lamont Drive, Boardman, was taken into custody on a warrant from Struthers.
Criminal damaging: Someone in the 4000 block of Baymar Drive threw eggs at a home and damaged part of its siding.
Theft: A woman reported her wallet stolen at a Boardman-Poland Road store.
Theft: Mone A. Perry, 18, of 4087 Stratford Road, Boardman, and a 17-year-old Poland girl were charged with taking eyeliner and lip gloss from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Criminal damaging: Two windows were broken at a doctor’s office in the 5300 block of Market Street.
Domestic violence: Suann L. Beam, 50, of 7465 Salinas Trail, Boardman, was charged with domestic violence and disrupting public services after her elderly mother alleged Beam had slapped her face and pushed the accuser backward in a wheelchair during an argument. Beam also destroyed a cellphone her mother tried to use to contact police, a report said.
Auto theft: A 1997 Chevrolet Lumina was stolen at a Market Street motel.
Theft: A woman in her 40s stole three pairs of jeans from Dillard’s in the Southern Park Mall.
Theft: A Poland girl, 15, was charged in the theft of $42 worth of merchandise from Walmart.
Arrest: Authorities apprehended 35-year-old Darnel T. Sharper near his residence, 531 Idora Ave., Youngstown, and charged him with fleeing and eluding police, drug abuse and reckless operation of a motor vehicle. Officers had tried to pull Sharper over near Midlothian Boulevard, but he led them on a high-speed pursuit, a report said.
May 1
Theft: Jerold L. Kimbrough, 18, of 230 E. Boston Ave., Youngstown, was given a summons after rubber BBs had been stolen from Walmart.
Theft: A woman’s purse was stolen from her car at a South Avenue eatery.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 1100 block of Red Tail Hawk Drive was found with extensive damage, including to its outside mirrors, antenna, paint and windows.
Criminal damaging: A Fairfield Drive man noticed a dent in his car’s rear quarter panel.
Attempted burglary: Someone tried to enter an apartment in the 5000 block of Aravesta Avenue, apparently through a tilt-in window.
Theft: A man stole items from Dollar General, 271 Boardman-Canfield Road, then fled in a vehicle.
Theft: Numerous items, including a chain saw, power tools and a lawn mower, were missing from a garage in the 5700 block of Sharon Drive.
Theft: Two people left Buffalo Wild Wings in the Southern Park Mall without paying their $21.64 food bill.
Assaults: Two people were injured in an assault during an argument in the 3900 block of Arden Boulevard.
Theft: A pair of hubcaps was stolen off a vehicle in the 1200 block of Boardman-Canfield Road.
Arrest: John Hill, 43, of 230 Prestwick Drive, Boardman, was charged with attempted theft and disorderly conduct while intoxicated after a nearby resident told police he saw Hill trying to enter the accuser’s car.
