FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


WEDNESDAY

Boar’s Head Ladies of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown, will sponsor a chicken dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the church. The menu will feature homemade baked chicken, salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, bread and butter, pie and beverage. Cost is $6.50, and containers will be provided for takeout orders. Southington United Methodist Church, state Route 305 at 534, will have a chicken dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. today. The menu includes a quarter chicken, scalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw, homemade desserts and beverage. Meals are $7.50 for adults. Chicken tender meals for children 4 to 10 are $4, and those 3 and under eat free. For carryouts call 330-898-2156, and meals will be ready for pickup.

THURSDAY

Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road, will sell homemade dinners to go from 3:30 p.m. until sold out. Ready for takeout will be dinners of baked stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans. The cost is $6. Drive to the front of the church and pick up a dinner. No need to preorder or get out of the car.

St. Michael Orthodox Church, 125 Steel St., Youngstown, will serve homemade Chinese lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each Thursday. This week’s meal will feature soy sauce pork loin. The cost of the meal is $6. No reservations are necessary.

Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, will have a takeout chicken dinner from 4 p.m. until sold out. Meals include stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, green beans and a brownie. The cost is $7. Drive through and pick up a dinner.

FRIDAY

Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Orders may be picked up from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $5 a dozen. Orders should be placed from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-746-9528 and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Advance sales only. Lunches will be available beginning at 11 a.m. Friday.

King Solomon Lodge 87, P.H.F. and A.M., 505 Highland Ave. SW, Warren, will have a fish fry from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Meals feature catfish and whiting, green beans, macaroni and cheese, mean greens, potato salad, coleslaw, bread and dessert. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Cost is $5 per bag of one dozen (no containers necessary). Walk-ins are welcome. Patrons are asked to use the side entrance.

St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. Cost is $4.50 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at 330-755-1316, and orders can be picked up beginning at noon. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available.

St. Luke Church, 5235 South Ave., Boardman, will bake Italian-style red and white pizza. Orders will be accepted at 330-788-0025 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. only. Pickup will be until 12:30 p.m. Price is $6 for Brier Hill pizza and $5 for white pizza.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main Street, New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $4.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. The cost is $5 a dozen. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability. Walk-in orders will be available. Lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

Tod Avenue United Methodist Church, 155 Tod Ave. NW, Warren, will have an all-you-can-eat fish dinner from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Meals include potatoes, coleslaw, dessert and beverage. Meatloaf will be available. The cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children. Carryouts will be available.

VFW Post 5532 and Back Hall, 575 S. County Road, Washingtonville, will serve fish dinners from 3 to 8 p.m. Available will be meals of fried or baked haddock, baked chicken tenders or shrimp, macaroni and cheese or fries, and coleslaw. For takeouts call 330-427-2533.

VFW Post 9571, 11397 Ellsworth Road, North Jackson, will have an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Also available will be four-piece chicken, chicken fingers or shrimp, french fries or macaroni and cheese. The cost is $7.50 for adults and $7 for seniors.

SATURDAY

New Hope United Methodist Church, 21 Fairview Ave., Niles, will have its final roast beef and salad bar dinner of the season from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Meals are $9 for adults, $4 for children and free for those 5 and under.

SUNDAY

St. John Lutheran Church, 1429 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, will serve a dinner honoring mothers at noon. For a freewill donation, a choice of roasted chicken breast or glazed ham will be served with mashed potatoes and gravy, California-blend vegetables and green beans, tossed salad, applesauce, rolls and butter, dessert and beverage. VFW Triangle Post 2799, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will have a Mother’s Day breakfast of eggs, hash browns, sausage or ham, pancakes, freedom toast and coffee or tea from 8 a.m. to noon. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 10.

TUESDAY

TAKING ORDERS

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, 526 W. Rayen Ave., is taking orders for carryout stuffed cabbage rolls to be picked up from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 21 at the social hall. The cost is $15 per dozen or $7.50 a half dozen. To place an order call 330-755-6340.

Youngstown American Hungarian Club, 2219 Donald Ave., is taking orders for stuffed cabbage costing $12 a dozen. Place an order by calling 330-792-5124 before Friday. Patrons may provide their own containers and save a $1.25 container fee. Orders can be picked up at the club between noon and 4 p.m. May 13 or 14.

Bessemer Presbyterian Church, 29 N. Main St., Bessemer, Pa., will serve ham loaf dinners from 5 to 7 p. m. May 14. Meals are $8 for adults, $4 for children 6 to 12 and free for those 5 and under. Coitsville Presbyterian Church, 91 Coitsville-Hubbard Road, will have a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 14. Meals are $6 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 18, and free for those 5 and under.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 381 Robbins Ave., Niles will have a twist sale from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 14 and 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 15 in Marian Hall. The cost is $2 each.

Pricetown United Methodist Church, 4640 Pritchard-Ohltown Road, Newton Falls, will serve chicken potpie dinners with mashed potatoes and gravy, roll, salad, homemade dessert and beverage from 5 to 6:30 p.m. May 11. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 6 to 12. Those 5 and under eat free. Carryouts will be available. This will be the final dinner until September.

VFW Post 2799, 3161 South Range Road, New Springfield, will be the setting for a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. May 12 as a benefit for Bill Frampton. Meals include meatballs, salad, bread, and coffee or tea. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under. There will be a basket auction, bake sale and 50-50 drawing.
