Searchers fail to find missing fisherman in park

NEW CASTLE, PA.

Searchers from several townships and the Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency returned to the waters of Slippery Rock Creek in McConnell’s Mill State Park in search of a missing fisherman.

But by evening, searchers had called off the search for the day without finding him, a spokesman for the Lawrence County 911 said.

John Latulippe, 38, of Glenshaw, Pa., fell into the creek while fishing near the McConnell’s Mill Covered Bridge on Saturday morning.

Searchers worked much of the day Saturday looking for the man and resumed Sunday.

Personnel from the townships of Slippery Rock, Scott and Taylor, plus those from South New Castle Boro and the Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency worked on the search, the 911 spokesman said.

Latulippe was last seen in the water near the bridge.

The historic mill and covered bridge are about 30 miles east of Youngstown and just east of New Castle on the eastern edge of Lawrence County.
