MVOC panel objects to liquor licenses

YOUNGSTOWN

As part of its commitment to clean, healthy and safe neighborhood stores, the Mahoning Valley Organizing Collaborative Health Equity Committee will gather to object to liquor-license renewals for three city stores.

The committee will gather outside Youngstown City Hall, 26 S. Phelps St., from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today during the liquor-license- renewal hearings for Belmont Drive-Thru, 1840 Belmont Ave.; Gina’s Food Market, 1942 Glenwood Ave.; and One-Stop Food Mart, 1395 Wick Ave.

As part of the two-hour program, the group will offer prayer for the community, share testimony from neighborhood leaders and provide local leaders’ plan for change.

The three stores have a long-term history as “nuisance properties” in their neighborhoods, the MVOC says in a press release.
