Summer art camp for kids

YOUNGSTOWN
The Butler Institute of American Art will host the 23rd annual Summer Arts Day Camp for Children July 19-22 and July 26-29 at the Butler’s Howland branch.
The program is designed for children 8-12, and can accommodate children with special needs.
It uses a hands-on approach to visual art, music, drama and dance, and is taught by professional artists. Program funders are being sought, and there are opportunities for groups and/or individuals to sponsor a child. Call Butler education director Carole O’Brien 330-743-1107, ext. 114.
Camp highlights include square dance, origami, performances by the Youngstown Symphony String Quartet and the Erie Heights Brass Ensemble, opera, visual artist Chris Leeper, author Anne M. Slanina and a trip to the planetarium at YSU.
