Alex Gordon hit a three-run homer in an eight-run eighth inning and rookie right-hander Nate Adcock picked up his first big league victory. The Royals sent 12 men to the plate and scored all eight runs after two outs.

CHICAGO
Robert Andino homered and reliever Mike Gonzalez doused a no-out bases-loaded situation as the Baltimore Orioles sent the reeling Chicago White Sox to their 14th loss in 17 games.

Eric Chavez drove in a run and broke up a potential double play that helped lead to three more. A.J. Burnett scrapped his way through six innings for New York, , despite giving up nine hits and having to wiggle his way out of a jam in just about every one of them.

Matt Joyce scored from third on a wild pitch with two outs in the 10th inning. Joyce opened the 10th with a double off Fernando Rodney. After Ben Zobrist lined out and Casey Kotchman moved Joyce to third with a grounder, Rodney threw a 1-2 pitch into the dirt that eluded catcher Hank Conger.

Phillies 2, Mets 1
PHILADELPHIA
Roy Halladay pitched a seven-hitter to help Philadelphia set a club record with its 18th victory in April. Halladay allowed one run and walked one while striking out eight to lead the Phillies to their third straight victory. Philadelphia went 17-5 in April 1993. The NL Cy Young award winner cruised in the beginning of the game— his first 18 pitches were all strikes before missing high with a fastball to Jose Reyes.
Cardinals 3, Braves 2
ATLANTA
Gerald Laird’s ninth-inning triple capped a late rally. Backed by rookie Brandon Beachy’s seven scoreless innings to start the game, the Braves led 2-0 before St. Louis began its comeback.

HOUSTON
Jason Bourgeois singled home the winning run with two outs in the ninth inning. Kameron Loe walked pinch-hitter Brett Wallace and Michael Bourn with two outs. Bourgeois followed with his third hit, and pinch-runner Bill Hall scored. Bourgeois also doubled and stole two bases.
Reds 4, Marlins 3, 10 innings
CINCINNATI
Pinch-hitter Edgar Renteria singled with two outs in the 10th inning, lifting Cincinnati to a comeback win over Florida.
