Legislative luncheon

Ohio House Speaker William Batchelder, R-Medina, will be the guest speaker at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber’s annual legislative luncheon May 13.
The event, which will recognize the Valley’s legislators, will be at 11:30 a.m. at the Maronite Center, 1555 South Meridian Road.

New name for group
CANFIELD
The Support Group for the Unemployed or Underemployed will debut a new name, Hope Works of the Mahoning Valley, when it reconvenes for a meeting May 12 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in Prato Hall at The Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road.
The group aims to provide job networking and support for those out of work or underemployed.
Duma benefit event

Management training

A free volunteer management training session will be hosted by the HandsOn Volunteer Network of the Valley Center for Nonprofit Innovation and Leadership from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 25 at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane.
The training will support organizations in their efforts to effectively utilize volunteers, said Manager Kristy Boyles.

Benefit for hospital
BOARDMAN
Youngstown Cycle Supply Inc., 6915 Market St., will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 14 to raise money for the Akron Children’s Hospital of Mahoning County. The store said customers who donate will receive a discount.

A new website aimed at bringing positivity and thought-provoking discussion to Valley residents launched April 12.
YOhioHub.com was created by Maurice Womack. “Youngstown can achieve success by sharing ideas and supporting one another in business, music and education,” he said.
