Boardman theater alumni to perform

More than 50 alumni of Boardman High School musicals, spanning five decades, will perform more than 30 songs at Celebrate the Arts, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Boardman Performing Arts Center (BPAC), 7777 Glenwood Ave. Proceeds will be used to purchase a new sound system for the arts center. Tickets are $15 and $25 in advance at celebratebpac.org or at the door.

The musical revue is being planned by Mark Huberman, Tyler Moliterno, Todd Hancock, Nick Opritza, Tim Welsh and Mike Moritz. Hancock and Moritz are the musical directors.

The BHS Alumni Art Show will also be on display at Celebrate the Arts. It will include works by Boardman graduates from the last 40 years. The exhibition will be on display through May 20 in the BPAC lobby.

Two Dana bands to present concert

YOUNGSTOWN

The Dana School of Music Concert Band and Symphonic Band, both conducted by Stephen L. Gage and Brandt Payne, will present a concert at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave.

The University Band will begin with “American Fanfare” by John Wasson, Claire Grundman’s “An Irish Rhapsody” and John Philip Sousa’s “Sousa!”

The YSU Concert Band will continue after the intermission with Leonard Bernstein’s “Slava,” Gustav Holst’s First Suite in E Flat; John William’s “Catch Me If You Can” and a new composition by YSU student Sarah Kramer.

Tickets are $5 ($4 for students and seniors) at the door.
