Daughters host celebration for Kirvens’ 50th

On April 17 family and friends gathered at The Elm Tree in Struthers to honor Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kirven of Boardman as they celebrated the 50th anniversary of their wedding.

Hosts for the event were their daughters Colleen (Dan) Lucarell of Lynn Haven, Fla., and Carrie (Dave) Huspaska of Brunswick, Ohio. There are three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren in the family.

The former Elma Pietrocola and Mr. Kirven were united in marriage April 15, 1961, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alliance and lived in Maryland.

Mr. Kirven was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Drill Team in Washington, D.C., and retired from the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington as a sergeant.

Mrs. Kirven was an administrative assistant for the Department of Agriculture in Washington.

After moving to Boardman in 1973., Mrs. Kirven worked for Mahoning National Bank, Boardman High School and American Life Insurance Co., and Mr. Kirven worked as a private investigator and as a Realtor for Coldwell Banker. Both are retired.

The Kirvens, also will celebrate their anniversary on a Caribbean cruise, a gift from their daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren, who will accompany them on the cruise.
