Dance Ensemble in annual concert
YOUNGSTOWN
The Youngstown State University Dance Ensemble’s annual concert will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Bliss Hall’s Ford Theater.
Under the artistic direction of Christine Cobb, faculty member in the department of Theater and Dance, the concert will showcase 13 dance pieces of modern, hip-hop and tap genres.
A notable piece incorporates an oral interpretation entitled “Dance and The Spoken Word” of Wallace Stephens’ poem “Sunday Morning.”
Conceived by associate staff designer W. Rick Schilling and choreographed by Katie Torba, this dance performance of a poem shows a woman who questions the nature of supernatural religions.
Biblical imagery mixes with pagan imagery in a beautiful narrative that evokes every sense.
Guest artist will be Melinda Planey of DANCE Cleveland.
Tickets are $8 ($3 for faculty, staff, students and senior citizens) and are only available at the door.
