Nick Vazquez’s relief pitching limited West Branch to two runs in the last two innings while Mooney’s offense had a three-run sixth to pull out the victory in the opener. Vazquez, who gave up only two hits, also had a triple and a single for three RBIs in four at-bats for the Cardinals. Beau Taylor went 3-for-3, Brandon Carver had two hits and an RBI and Zach Wyss had two hits for the Warriors. In the Warriors’ win, starter Josh Fuson (3-0) was aided by Matt Unkefer’s three innings of relief as West Branch prevailed in a game in which Zach Wells broke the Warriors’ record for stolen bases (27). Carver had three hits and three RBIs while Wells had a triple and drove in two runs. Unkefer, who also tripled for the winners (9-11), earned a save.
A.J. Thomas had a home run and double and three RBIs for Mooney (10-3).
St. Ignatius 6, Canfield 4
NILES
Neil Jacobs’ three hits included a first-inning three-run homer for St. Ignatius (9-3) at Eastwood Field. For the Cardinals, Ben Angelo had two hits and scored a run while Brad Smith had two hits, scored once and drove in one. Also with two hits and a run scored was Anthony Ross.

Smith and Tony Mehle had hits for Canfield (10-5).
Warren JFK 5, Columbiana 2
COLUMBIANA
Joames Coates homered while Brendan Cox, Mike Briach and Marco Macali each doubled for Warren JFK (10-1). Joey Canaan (2-0) was the winning pitcher.
Niles 14, Beaver Local 3
GIRARD
Mike Watson had a double and a single and six RBIs as Jake Foster and Cage McCracken pitched four and three innings, respectively, and combined for seven strikeouts for the Red Dragons. Ryan Smith had two hits and knocked in a run for Beaver Local.
Niles 10, Girard 3
GIRARD
A six-run fourth inning broke open the game for Niles (12-4). Jim Melfi had two hits and two RBIs while Brandon Hunkus and also had two hits for Girard.
Liberty 10, Lakeview 9
LIBERTY
Mark Seals had the game-winning base hit in the bottom of the eighth for Liberty (7-4, 3-1 All-American Conference White Tier). Seals finished with two hits as did John Lucic, Justin House, Lou Rivera and Dom Gore. Nate Fader had a double and two singles for the Leopards. Gore, the starter, struck out five over 5 2/3 innings before Mike Moamis took over before getting the win. Lakeview is 8-6 (3-3 AAC White Tier).
LaBrae 10-11, Jackson-Milton 0-15
NORTH JACKSON
In the opener, Jake Rutherford had five strikeouts during a two-hitter and Blake Sprague knocked in three runs with two hits for LaBrae. Jackson-Milton cousins Ryan Nagy and Zach Nagy had the Bluejays’ only hits — both singles. In the second game, Ryan Nagy had four singles and batted in a run, Josh Tanner had four singles and he scored three times and Adam Jeffries had two doubles and a single and two RBIs for Jackson-Milton (3-7).

STRUTHERS
Ben Angelo had three hits and two RBIs for the Cardinals (4-0 All-American Conference Red Tier) while Ryan O’Hara and Mike Werner each had two hits and a RBI. Winning pitcher Mike Wittmann (3-0) struck out seven batters and walked two.
