SHARON, PA.
Tuesday is the deadline to register for the Women’s Center of Sharon Regional Health System’s annual spring symposium, “Weight and See How Fun Healthy Can Be,” on April 9 at Avalon Golf and Country Club at Buhl Park.
The keynote speaker is Meg Maly, a licensed medical social worker, educational specialist, motivational speaker and stand-up comic, who will speak on “Laugh Yourself Healthier.” Other topics and speakers include “The Great Balancing Act,” Dr. Rebecca Hanigosky, obstetrics and gynecology; and “Zumba Your Way to Healthy,” Karen Elder, dance instructor.
The program begins at 8 a.m. and includes a continental breakfast, lunch, vendors, basket auction and door prizes. Auction proceeds will benefit the March of Dimes. To register, call 724-983-5518 or 800-346-7997. The fee is $20.
Wellness fair

Health and Wellness Fair 2011 is April 9 at St. Christine Parish School, 3125 S. Schenley Ave., from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The event offers free information on healthy food, exercise, stress relief and spirituality plus free clinical screenings. Admission is free and open to the public.
The fair includes more than 60 informational booths and exhibits by community health and service organizations; free health screenings, including skin-cancer screening from 10 a.m. to noon; and breast self-examination instruction. There will be tests for which there will be charges, such as $40 for carotid ultrasound, which requires the name and address of the patient’s physician. Blood sugar and lipid profiles require an eight-hour fast.
There will also be a children’s area with Child Ident-a-Kits and free dental exams; free healthy brunch, healthy recipes, and bread samples from Great Harvest Bread, and an American Red Cross blood drive.
Spin-A-Thon
CANFIELD
Studio Oxygen in the Hilltop Plaza in Canfield is offering a Spin-A-Thon on April 17. Proceeds will be donated to Silver Lining Cancer Fund and Christina’s Garden. Silver Lining is a group of local health-care professionals and volunteers dedicated to meeting the needs of people diagnosed with cancer. Christina’s Garden assists cancer patients and their families on a national level. Spin classes are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the last class beginning at 3 p.m. The donation is $10 per hour to spin plus a canned good to be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley. Walk With Me

Easter Seals of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties’ sixth annual Walk With Me is April 9 at Boardman Park. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the Larriccia Family Community Center and the walk starts at 9:30 a.m. Registration is free and a donation of $25 or more gets the participant a T-shirt. Stay-fit session
CANFIELD
On Tuesday, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road, Eve Bevilacqua, wellness director for Copeland Oaks/Crandall Medical Center of Sebring, will conduct “Well of Body,” a session designed to teach older adults how to stay fit without strenuous physical activity.
