Police are investigating the shooting of a 17-year-old student, a pistol whipping and an armed robbery, all in a span of less than 24 hours.

According to police reports, a 17-year-old Lowell Avenue boy, a student at LifeSkills Center, was walking along Erie Street near Midlothian Boulevard on the South Side just after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when a red Pontiac Grand Am pull alongside him.

Someone in the rear seat began shooting at the teen.

The boy reportedly told police someone fired about six shots at him.

He was shot in the leg and fell to the ground.

After the boy fell, the car sped off.

A friend of the boy, who was sitting in a car not far from the shooting, witnessed the incident.

She helped the boy into her car and took him to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment.

The victim told police he is not feuding with anyone and is unaware of anyone who would want to shoot him.

Reports say a 24-year-old East Avondale man walking near his home was pistol whipped during what is believed to be an attempted robbery around 9 p.m. Tuesday.

According to reports, the man was walking when he was approached by two men, one carrying a gun, who demanded all his possessions.

The victim said he tried to run, but he was grabbed from behind, thrown to the ground, pistol whipped, kicked and punched.

The victim was taken to St. Elizabeth’s, where he was treated for head trauma and numerous cuts to his face area.

Earlier Tuesday, just before 2 p.m., police were sent to a gas station in the 500 block of Midlothian for reports of a man robbed at gunpoint.

According to police, the 19-year-old victim, who is from Canfield, told police he was called over to a tan car at the gas station and noticed the driver was holding a gun.

The driver reportedly demanded all the victim’s money.

Reports say the victim handed over about $300, and the car pulled out of the parking lot.

The victim told police he ran back to his car and chased the tan car, but soon lost sight of the suspect.
