Previously cited for animal issues, woman attacked, injured by own dog
YOUNGSTOWN
A city woman who had been cited in the past for dog issues has been attacked by her own pit bull.
According to police reports, Leanna Razo, 30, of South Hazelwood Avenue, was attacked by one of her dogs earlier this week. Police did not detail the injuries to Razo but did call them extensive.
According to police, officers and the Mahoning County dog warden had to go to Razo’s West Side home Monday to take the dog from the premises.
Officers entered the house with shotguns because of the vicious nature of the dog and found the animal in a partially latched cage but still acting aggressive toward police and the dog warden, according to reports.
The dog was removed from the house without injury.
Police forwarded a copy of their report to Mahoning County Children Services because Razo reportedly had young children living in the house with the dog.
In September 2010, Razo received several misdemeanor citations from city authorities for dog-related issues, including failure to confine vicious animals, failure to obtain liability insurance for a pit bull and dogs running at large.
According to police reports, officers found one pit bull and one pit-bull mix walking down Mahoning Avenue near Hartford Avenue and tracked the dogs to Razo’s home.
She reportedly told police her boyfriend let the dogs out before going to work and she forget to let the animals in before she fell asleep.
