COLUMBUS
During the Ohio District of Kiwanis International Mid-Year Conference in Columbus, two local Kiwanians received recognition for their years of service to the organization and their communities.
Douglas Everett and George Grim received Kiwanis Hall of Fame awards. Only four of the prestigious awards are presented in the District of Ohio or in the state of Ohio.
Everett served as distinguished governor for the district in 1987-88, distinguished lieutenant governor of Division 21 in 1978-89, and as president of Mill Creek Kiwanis Club.
Named for him was the Douglas R. K. Everett District Chair Award, given annually to an outstanding lieutenant governor in the Ohio District.
Grim was lieutenant governor of Division 21 in 2006-07 and is president of Boardman Kiwanis Club. He is chairman of Boardman Memorial Day Parade, Boardman Easter Egg Hunt and the pet show in Boardman Township Park. He raised the funds for a new shower house at Camp Stambaugh, where he is active with the Scouts and serves on the 4-H advisory committee.
The honorees attend division, district and international Kiwanis meetings.
