SENIOR SIDELIGHTS


Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive, has planned the following: Monday, cards, cornhole, and Wii at 9:30 a.m., drawing at 9:30, bingo at 10 and tour of Austin Woods with lunch; Tuesday, Balance Class at 9:30 a.m. and bingo at noon; Wednesday, cards. cornhole and Wii at 9:15 a.m., bingo at 10 and tai chi at noon; Thursday, yoga, cards, cornhole and Wii at 9:30 a.m., bingo at noon, 50-50 drawing and birthday party at 11:30. Lunch is available at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Registration is required by 11 a.m. each day. Blood pressure screenings are every Monday. Celtic Community Services will offer free health assessments at different locations throughout the month for Mahoning County residents 60 or older. The assessments will be performed by a nurse and will include blood pressure screenings, pulse, oxygen saturation levels and weight. Senior Independence Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, has planned the following: Monday, Men’s and Women’s Needlecraft Club at 8:30 a.m., gentle chair yoga and Boardman Community Fun Day at 10, and bridge at 1 p.m.; Tuesday, oil painting at 10 a.m., computer class at 10 and noon, Taste of Country Trip to Lisbon at 10:30, bridge for beginners at 11, exercises at noon and Digital Club at 2 p.m.; Wednesday, watercolor class at 10 a.m., tap class at noon and 500 cards at 1 p.m.; and Thursday, Watch Our Weight and Woodcarvers at 9 a.m., exercises at noon, line dancing at 1 p.m. and beginner line dancing at 2. Trained AARP tax experts will offer free income-tax assistance at the center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Monday and Friday.
