CLUB CALENDAR | Local organizations plan meetings


ALLIANCES

Ohio Cultural Alliance will have its next meeting at 6 p.m. April 4 at Antone’s Banquet Center, 8578 Market St., Boardman. There will be a catered meal, the Rev. Kenneth L. Simon, pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church, will give the program, and the Harambee Dancers, directed by Lynette Miller, will provide cultural enrichment. Cost of the evening is $15 for each paid-up member and $20 for each nonmember. Mail checks to OCA, P.O. Box 561, Canfield, OH 44406. Reservations must be received no later than Wednesday. The community project recipient this month is United Methodist Community Center. Attendees are asked to take personal items such as diapers, toilet tissue, body wash, soap, etc. for the center.

CLUBS

Mahoning Valley Cribbage Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at St. James Church, 7640 Glenwood Ave., Boardman. New players are welcome. For more information call 330-757-9503.

Poland Women’s Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the home of Linda Weaver with Lue Bukovinsky and Dru Marchese as co-hostesses. The topic will be “Gift of a Garden” by Keith Kaiser of Fellows Riverside Gardens.

Round Table Woodcarvers will meet from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Senior Center, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, for carving lessons; wood and tools are provided. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information call 330-792-4355 or 330-533-6301.

Youngstown South Christian Women’s Club will present “April Arrives in Full Bloom” from noon to 2 p.m. April 14 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield. The luncheon will feature a special guest, Diane Green, a floral designer, soloist and inspirational speaker. The cost of $13 includes lunch. Reservations are essential by April 7. LEAGUES

Boardman Poland Junior Women’s League will meet at 6:30 p.m. April 4 at Blazed and Bedazzled, 8414 Market St., Boardman. Plans will be made for a luau in May. Members are asked to take car or motorcycle care items for baskets to be raffled during bike nights at Quaker Steak and Lube in Austintown. Membership is open to tri-county area women over 18. Croatian Lodge No. 598 will meet at 12:45 p.m. Sunday in the senior citizens room at the post office building.

POLITICAL CLUBS

Warren Republican Women’s Club will meet at noon April 7 at DiLucia’s Banquet Center on Elm Road, Warren. Liz Clark will speak on “Trumbull 100.” The cost of the luncheon is $12.50. Guests are welcome with advance registration at 330-856-5228.

RELIGIOUS GROUPS

Mothers of the Crucifix Society of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown will meet at 1:30 p.m. April 3 with Elizabeth Mirone presiding. Hostesses will be Mary Lavaglio and Beverly Pondillo.

St. Rose Quilting Group will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the parish house.

SERVICE CLUBS

Girard-Liberty Kiwanis will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at The Golf Dome, 1300 N. State St., Girard.

SUPPORT GROUPS

Marijuana Anonymous, a 12-step recovery program for people addicted to the drug, meets every Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall, 2555 Rush Blvd., Youngstown.

Nar-anon, a 12-step program for relatives and friends who have been adversely affected by a loved one’s addiction to drugs, meets at 7 p.m. Fridays at the Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic, 160 Clifton NE, Howland. Newcomers should arrive at 6:45. For more information call 330-856-3822.

Korean War Veterans, Chapter 137, will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the VFW Post 4192, 3889 state Route 46, Mineral Ridge. All Korean War veterans are welcome.
