Ohio police: 4 likely died from carbon monoxide

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Investigators in Ohio say a woman and three children found dead in a rental home without electricity likely died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Coroner’s investigator Steve Kahle said the family had been using a generator to power a space heater inside their Toledo home. He said they were probably overcome in their sleep; they were found this morning on the first floor.

A neighbor said the woman and the three school-aged children had moved into the rental home within the last few weeks.

She said the owner of the home found the bodies. Police were unsure of the relationship between the woman and the children.
