YSU to honor diversity trailblazers on March 31

Trailblazers for diversity will be honored at Youngstown State University’s 4th annual Diversity Leadership Recognition Celebration March 31.

The purpose of the recognition is to celebrate and embrace diversity at YSU and in the community and to recognize that although we may come from different cultures or share different thoughts or experiences, we share a common goal of educating our leaders of tomorrow.

The selected honorees for Community Leadership are: Beatitude House, Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, Robert L. Faulkner Jr. and Earnest Perry, M.D., F.A.C.S. (posthumously); Campus Leadership: Alfred L. Bright, Arlene Floyd, and L.J. Tessier, Ph.D.; and student leaders (Leaders of Tomorrow): Alma Ciriello, Darian Scott and Terrell Wesley. The scholarship recipient is student, Meysha Harville.

The Diversity Leadership Recognition Celebration will be at 6 p.m. March 31 at Mr. Anthony’s, 7440 South Ave., Boardman. The cost is $35 per person or a table of eight for $280. Thursday is the reservation deadline.

The keynote speaker will be Cynthia E. Anderson, YSU’s first woman president, the first Youngstown native and the first YSU graduate to serve as YSU’s president.
