SENIOR SIDELIGHTS


Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive, has planned the following: Monday, cards, cornhole and Wii at 9:30 a.m., bingo at 10 and party committee meeting at noon; Tuesday, Balance Class at 9:30 a.m. Zumba at 10:15 and bingo at noon; Wednesday, cards. cornhole and Wii at 9:15 a.m., bingo at 10 and tai chi at noon; Thursday, trip to Canton museum and lunch, yoga at 9:30 a.m., poker and euchre at 10:30 and bingo at noon; and Friday, cards, cornhole, Wii and bingo at 10 a.m. and cards and Senior Focus at 12:30 p.m. Lunch is available at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Registration is required by 11 a.m. each day. Blood pressure checks are every Monday. The center is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. For information call 330-953-1416.

Niles S.C.O.P.E. Senior Center, 14 E. State St., Niles, will sponsor a motor coach trip to Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island, Mich., Aug. 22 to 24. Featured will be a luncheon at the Grand Hotel, breakfast each morning, free time for sightseeing at Mackinaw Crossing, and an optional evening at the Kewadin Casino. There will be stops at Frankenmuth, a Bavarian community, and Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland. The cost is $375 per person, based on double occupancy; $325 for triple; $305 for quadruple; and $515 single. The fee includes two nights lodging at the Baymont Inn and Suites in Mackinaw City. Senior Independence Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, has planned the following: Monday, Men’s and Women’s Needlecraft Club at 8:30 a.m., gentle chair yoga at 10, OSU nutrition class at 11 and bridge at 1 p.m.; Tuesday, oil painting at 10 a.m., computer class at 10 and noon, bridge for beginners at 11, exercises at noon and Digital Club at 2 p.m.; Wednesday, watercolor class at 10 a.m., tap class at noon and 500 cards at 1 p.m.; Thursday, Watch Our Weight and Woodcarvers at 9 a.m., exercises at noon, line dancing at 1 p.m. and beginner line dancing at 2; and Friday, income taxes at 9 a.m. The following fun days will begin at 10 a.m.: Austintown on Wednesday, Boardman on Thursday, and Boardman bingo and dessert on Friday.
