Returning

Army Reserve 1st Lt. Joshua S. Fette is returning to the United States after a deployment to Iraq serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom/New Dawn, or Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and the Southwest Asia Theater of Operations.

He will be stationed at Joint Base Dix-McGuire-Lakehurst, N.J., for debriefing, evaluations and out-processing procedures before returning to regularly assigned unit.

Fette, a quartermaster officer with six years of military service, is the son of Doug and stepson of Robyn Fette of West Middlesex, Pa., and the son of Marie Darby of Hermitage, Pa. Fette graduated in 2004 from West Middlesex High School and received a bachelor’s degree in 2009 from Lock Haven (Pa.) University.

Seminar offered

Veterans sought for video interviews

BESSEMER, PA.

Mohawk High School students will tape on-camera interviews with local veterans about their military service April 27 at the school at 385 Mohawk School Road. The interviews will be submitted to the Library of Congress and become part of its permanent collection.

U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire of Pennsylvania, D-4th, said the project allows veterans to “record and preserve their stories for future generations.” Veterans interested in being interviewed should contact Beth Newman at Altmire’s office at 724-226-1304 as soon as possible for an appointment.

Altmire said the Veterans History Project is the largest oral history program in U.S. history and collects first-person accounts of military service in World Wars I and II, the wars in Korea, Vietnam and the Persian Gulf, the current conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq and during peacetime.

Retired after 26 years

WARREN

Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Todd W. Easterday, son of Beverly C. and W R. Easterday of Warren, retired after 26 years of active-duty service. His last assignment was as senior enlisted advisor for Global Network Operations Center, Norfolk, Va.

During his career, Easterday, a 1984 graduate of Howland High School, accumulated more than 14 years of sea duty, serving onboard the USS Koelsch (FF 1049), USS Boone (FFG 28), USS Saipan (LHA-2) and USS Enterprise (CVN-65).

His shore commands include commander Submarine Group Ten, Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Atlantic, Global Network Operations Center Detachment Norfolk, and Space and Naval Warfare Systems, all at Norfolk, Va.

Easterday received several personal awards and medals, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medals and the Afghanistan Campaign Service Medal.
