Public to have an opportunity to explore YMCA Camp Fitch

NORTH SPRINGFIELD, Pa.

YMCA Camp Fitch will host two open houses this spring, the first on April 17 and the second, May 15.

The public will have an opportunity to visit the camp from 1 to 4 p.m. either day for wagon tours of the camp, the chance to take part in traditional camp activities, to toast s’mores over a campfire and to learn more about the camp.

Camp Fitch is a year-round resident camp at 12600 Abels Road, North Springfield, just west of Erie, Pa. It features a mile of Lake Erie shoreline and 450 acres of forests, fields and streams.

More than 20,000 people pass through the gates each year, where they participate in such activities as parent-child programs, youth and adult retreats, Boy Scout and Girl Scout events, family reunions and outdoor education with school groups.

The summer-camp program consists of seven one-week sessions. Campers can sign up for one, two or all seven weeks. Available are specialty camps for campers to receive instructions in specific activities such as computer, competitive swim, soccer, house of speed, diabetes, leader training and teen adventure trips.

The summer season winds down with two one-week sessions of Family Camp, when families relax and share traditional camp activities.
