City approves payment increase to company
YOUNGSTOWN
With a major expansion of a business at 20 Federal Place, the board of control approved a $1,000 monthly increase in payment to the company that manages the city-owned office facility.
The increase to DeVicchio & Associates is primarily to pay for additional cleaning needed at the building caused by the expansion of VXI Global Solutions to the fifth floor, said Kyle Miasek, the city’s deputy finance director.
That floor was vacant before VXI’s recent move.
The expansion includes the addition of 500 employees.
VXI, an inbound-call center, already had about 600 workers on the fourth floor.
As part of its management agreement, DeVicchio also is responsible for maintenance and cleaning at the building.
With the increase, the city is paying $22,205 a month to DeVicchio: $9,555 for maintenance work, $6,400 for the cleaning staff and $6,250 for management of 20 Federal Place, the former Phar-Mor Centre in the city’s downtown.
The board of control approved a request Thursday to pay $1,000 more a month to DeVicchio, which has managed 20 Federal Place on West Federal Street since June 2007.
The increase is effective April 1.
Also Thursday, the board of control approved a contract for up to $76,000 to have David Boos manage the city-owned Henry Stambaugh Golf Course. He also pays starters and laborers out of that amount.
Boos, the course’s golf pro, managed the nine-hole North Side course last year for $76,000.
The course is expected to open no later than April 1.
