Klaric of JFK named All-Ohio

Paige Klaric, who led the Warren JFK girls basketball team to the final of the district tournament, was named first team All-Ohio in Division IV by The Associated Press on Tuesday.
Klaric, a senior, averaged 23.7 points per game for the Eagles, who finished the season with an 18-5 record.
Joining Klaric on the Div. III team were Mikayla Tipton of Wellsville, Sarah Cash of Lordstown, and Lowellville’s Taylor Hvisdak and Emily Carlson, were were all named special mention.
Selected to the honorable mention team were Taylor Ward of Sebring, Colleen Kennehan of Western Reserve, Taylor Stanley of McDonald, Ashley Harrison of Crestview, Clarissa Perkins of Leetonia and Ashley Moore of Lowellville.
In Div. III, three area players were named special mention: Sarah Bonar of Badger, Courtney Powell of Ursuline and Destiny Prusky of Newton Falls.
Named honorable mention were Ali Gagne of Lakeview, Courtney Aldridge of LaBrae and Aurielle Irizarry of Ursuline.
Leading the teams were Shicole Watts of Harvest Prep, and Raven Ferguson of Columbus Africentric and Ally Malott of Middletown Madison.
Watts was named player of the year in Div. IV, while Ferguson and Malott shared player of the year honors in Div. III.
Coaches of the year in Div. IV were Tina Yates of Shadyside, Craig Hamilton of Newcomerstown and Seth Newlove of Arlington.
In Div. III, the top coaches were Doug Hale of Oak Hill and Jack Billing of Anna.
The state tournament begins Thursday at Value City Arena in Columbus.
In Div. IV, Fort Loramie plays Shadyside, and Delphos Jefferson takes on Harvest Prep in the semifinals.
In Div. III on Friday, Anna plays Fort Recovery and Oak Hill takes on Elyria Catholic.
