Fla. man sued by ex-Pa. judge facing tax charges
PITTSBURGH (AP) — A Florida man being sued by a retired western Pennsylvania judge has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on tax evasion charges.
The Associated Press could not locate a listed phone number for 40-year-old Alfredo Sararo III, who now lives in Naples, Fla. but used to live in Pittsburgh where he was a friend and business partner of former Allegheny County Judge Robert Horgos.
Horgos is suing Sararo for allegedly bilking him out of money in Florida real estate deals and claims Sararo also spent $500,000 of the judge’s money on himself. Florida court records show a judge has stayed the lawsuit while the parties work out a settlement.
Tuesday’s indictment says Sararo underreported in his income and filed false federal tax returns in 2004 and 2005.
