STRUTHERS

Burglars have hit two homes on Maplewood Avenue in recent days, police reports say.

The burglaries occurred from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday and from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, reports indicate.

On Saturday, a back door was kicked in, and a laptop computer and two game systems were stolen, police said.

On Monday, a woman reported to police that jewelry was missing from a bedroom. There were wet footprints in the house that indicated someone had been there, but there was no sign of forced entry, police said. The woman could not remember if she’d locked her door, a report says.

Struthers Detective Jeff Pantall said the burglaries were within four blocks of each other.

He said the same person could be responsible.

“But I can’t speculate,” he said.

He said that the backyard at the house where the door was kicked in was “wide open,” but in spite of that, no one saw the burglar.

The police continue to investigate.
