Records issued for 2 kids found dead in Fla. canal
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Authorities have released records showing the slain mother of two children found dead in luggage tossed in a South Florida canal had endured years of abuse.
Florida’s Department of Children and Families released records Tuesday for Felicia Brown and the two slain children, 10-year-old Jermaine McNeil and 6-year-old Ju’tyra Allen. Brown’s body was found last August in a West Palm beach landfill and the youngsters’ bodies were recovered March 2 in Delray Beach.
The records show officials investigated numerous reports of abuse involving Brown while she was a child. They also showed Jermaine McNeil had drifted in and out of the foster care system and also was a victim of abuse. His 6-year-old sister was cared for by a grandmother until her mother finished substance abuse treatment, the records show.
