Pickets protest SB5 support

WARREN

About 40 members of several public and private unions held signs and demonstrated on the sidewalk at the Warren Tribune Chronicle on Monday morning.

Carrying signs reading “Report the whole truth” and “Stop misleading,” the pickets spent about three hours there from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., said Bill Monrean, a captain with the Warren Fire Department, who helped organize the event.

Monrean said pickets included firefighters from seven departments, members of the United Steelworkers union, public- school teachers, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, and Service Employees International Union.

Monrean said the newspaper’s editorial-page support of Senate Bill 5, which would affect public- employee unions statewide, was the main target of the protest.
