Pa. nursing home worker towel-snapped 93-year-old man

HOUSTON, Pa. (AP) — Police have charged a 34-year-old worker with snapping a towel in the face of a 93-year-old patient at a county-run nursing home in western Pennsylvania.

Michael Ashmore, of Wind Ridge, is charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, and neglecting to care for a dependent person by Chartiers Township police.

The Associated Press also could not locate a listed phone for Ashmore who, police say, also tried to choke and punch the patient at the Washington County Health Center on Feb. 7. WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh is reporting police charged Ashmore after the fact following an investigation.

A spokeswoman for the Washington County Health Center says she could not immediately comment on the incident, Ashmore’s employment status, or the patient’s current condition.
