Feds indict 28 in alleged cocaine ring in Ohio

CLEVELAND (AP) — Twenty-eight people have been indicted in an alleged cocaine smuggling ring in Ohio.

The 50-count indictment was unsealed today in federal court in Cleveland.

Charges include conspiracy, cocaine dealing and possession and using hard-to-trace cell phones to run the alleged drug ring over the past three years.

Authorities say the defendants were involved in smuggling $6 million worth of cocaine to Ashtabula County in the state’s northeast corner by way of a stash house in Eastlake near Cleveland.

Federal and local officials were scheduled to detail the alleged ring at a news conference this afternoon in Ashtabula County.
