Firefighters have estimated $43,800 worth of damage was done during a weekend fire on Mill Creek Boulevard.
The fire broke out at 6592 Mill Creek Blvd. around 1:10 p.m. Saturday, and was contained to one bedroom on the home’s second floor, according to reports. No one was injured, but the Red Cross is helping the family of seven who has not been able to return to the house, reports state.
Dog found abused

A township resident filed a police report Monday after finding her dog abused.
Police said the dog’s owner, who lives on Hitchcock Road, found the Rottweiler in a front yard on the same street and took it to a veterinarian, who said the dog’s injuries to the head and ribs were caused by being hit with a blunt instrument and from bleach thrown in its face. The dog had gotten loose, reports stated, and police do not have any suspects at this time.
Thefts probed
POLAND
Township police are investigating a series of thefts from auto reports, in which stolen credit cards are then used to buy postage stamps.
The incidents have occurred throughout the township at night, and a suspect has been recorded on video entering local post offices wearing either a black or white motorcycle helmet. The release also stated the suspect is believed to be a slender white male. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Greg Wilson at 330-757-8033.
Woman robbed
BOARDMAN
An 82-year-old Poland woman told police that a woman approached her, striking up a conversation, in Walmart on Doral Drive, on March 8, and another woman stole her wallet from her purse in the shopping cart.
Police said the Poland woman’s credit cards were then used to buy $3,000 worth of merchandise at Best Buy in Boardman.
