Beckhams expecting a baby girl in summer
LOS ANGELES
Team Beckham is adding a girl to its roster.
Soccer great David Beckham and wife Victoria are expecting their fourth child, and a spokesman said Sunday that the couple has learned that it will be a girl.
In January, the former England captain announced via Facebook that his wife was due this summer.
The Beckhams, who married in 1999, have three boys: 11-year-old Brooklyn, 8-year-old Romeo, and 5-year-old Cruz.
The 35-year-old Beckham captained England’s national team from 2000 to 2006. He played for Manchester United and Real Madrid before joining Major League Soccer club Los Angeles Galaxy in 2007.
Thirty-six-year-old Victoria Beckham found fame as a singer for 1990s girl- band the Spice Girls.
Jazz drummer Morello dies at 82
TRENTON, N.J.
Legendary jazz drummer Joe Morello, whose virtuosity and command of odd time signatures made him an integral part of the Dave Brubeck Quartet on such classic recordings as “Take Five” and “Blue Rondo a la Turk,” has died at age 82.
Family members said Morello died Saturday at his home in New Jersey. A cause of death was not immediately available.
‘Battle: LA’ conquers with $36M opening
NEW YORK
The summer-style blockbuster “Battle: Los Angles” performed like one at the box office, opening to a strong debut of $36 million, according to studio estimates Sunday. The film stars Aaron Eckhart as a veteran soldier leading a platoon of Marines in combat against invading aliens.
In its second week, the animated Western spoof “Rango” came in second, adding $23.1 million for a total of $68.7 million.
Rounding out the top five were “Red Riding Hood” with $14.1 million; “The Adjustment Bureau” with $11.5 million; and “Mars Needs Moms!” with $6.8 million.
