MIDDLETOWN

Police in southwest Ohio say a gunman fatally shot a man in a truck outside a Frisch’s Big Boy restaurant in Middletown, then killed himself.

Lt. Rodney Muterspaw says the shooter used his car to block the truck and then fired several shots at the other man, who was waiting for a woman to come out of the restaurant Saturday afternoon. Muterspaw says relatives told police the woman was the shooter’s ex-wife and was dating the man in the truck. She works at the restaurant and wasn’t hurt.

Police have identified the shooter as 26-year-old James Riley. The victim was identified as 55-year-old Ernie Sexton.

Muterspaw says the gunman used a shotgun, and authorities found an AK-47 assault rifle in his car.
