WASHINGTON, Pa.

A man accused of killing his live-in girlfriend has testified tearfully that he found the victim dead on the back deck of their western Pennsylvania home.

Larry Boyd Jr., 40, took the stand in his own defense Friday in his Washington County trial in the September 2009 slaying of Anna Marie Lutz, 24.

He said he never would have hurt her.

Under cross-examination Boyd offered little explanation for blood spatters on the walls of the Claysville home and on clothing confiscated by police. The (Washington) Observer-Reporter says he also downplayed the idea that the two had argued about money, saying they “discussed” it.

Police said he told them the two also had argued about her drinking.
