MetroParks plans farming seminars

“Learn How to Farm” seminars are scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 24 and 31 at Mill Creek MetroParks Farm, 7574 Columbiana-Canfield Road.
People considering putting vacant lots or small acreage to productive agriculture use can learn how to till the soil by attending these free evening seminars.
Food production can be successful on a small scale, and these seminars will review the tools needed for planning, marketing and managing plus financial resources available, budgets and evaluating what the land can support for a successful business, according to a park press release.
Information will be available about the benefits of soil testing and making decisions on seed choices, fertilizer, farm supplies and equipment.

Presenting the seminars are Countryside Conservancy in cooperation with the Crossroads Resource Conservation and Development Council Inc., farm bureau, Ohio State University Extension of Mahoning County and Mill Creek MetroParks.
