Easter Seals benefit to be Saturday event

YOUNGSTOWN

Sandi’s Family Haircare will sponsor its 14th annual “Give Up the Green” event on Saturday as a fundraiser for Easter Seals. Patrons will be treated to Lucky Rainbow Cake and have a chance to win a prize by participating in a raffle.

Those visiting the salon, at 3302 Mahoning Ave., can receive a haircut, style or manicure for $10. All proceeds will benefit Easter Seals programs and services.

Garden group will meet Tuesday

YOUNGSTOWN

The Garden District Neighborhood Association’s meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Davis Center of Fellows Riverside Gardens.

Crime reports, vacant properties, concerns of residents of the Garden District and nomination of officers will be on the agenda.

Historical society will hear speaker

KINSMAN

Kinsman Historical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Kinsman Presbyterian Church parlor, 6383 Church St.

Charlotte Moore will speak about “Early American Pressed Glass.” Those attending may take a favorite piece and share its history with the group. Dues of $3 per member and $5 per household are due. For more information call Donna Carmichael at 330-876-7866.

Quilt show coming to Mercer County

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.

A quilt show will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 19 at Wilmington Township Mercer County Building, 35 Auction Road.

Admission is $2, and refreshments will be available. Wilmington Township Mercer County Civic League Quilters are sponsoring the show, which will feature a wide variety of locally crafted quilts on display and some for sale. Delphine Lord quilts will be featured this year.

Lunch and learn program at library

YOUNGSTOWN

The Friends of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, 305 Wick Ave., will sponsor a Lunch and Learn program at noon April 12. Those attending are asked to take a brown bag lunch; coffee and tea will be provided.

Sean Posey of Youngstown State University will present a program on “Roots of Urban Decay: Post-war Socio/Economic Problems in Youngstown.”
