Counselors selected for 4-H summer camp

Twenty-three camp counselors have been selected to serve the weeklong Trumbull County 4-H camp this August. They are from all over Trumbull County, as well as one from Ashtabula, two from Diamond and one from Louisville. Camps are planned and coordinated by older 4-H teen leaders called camp counselors.
4-H camp counselors participate in at least 24 hours of counselor training. Counselors serve as cabin and group leaders and are responsible for 10 to 12 campers for the week.
Trumbull County 4-H camp is open to any person between age 8 and 14. Campers do not need to belong to 4-H.
4-H Camp provides an outdoor classroom where campers learn skills in outdoor living, recreation, leadership development and decision-making. They also have fun.
Programs include educational and recreational activities such as fishing, canoeing, hiking, crafts, conservation, archery, riflery and swimming. Special programs including campfires, dances, scavenger hunt and team activities. Campers live in cabins consisting of 10 to 12 campers and teen counselors.
Trumbull County 4-H Camp is scheduled for July 31 to Aug. 6 at Camp Whitewood in Windsor, Ashtabula County. Cost is $230, which includes three meals per day and a snack, lodging, restrooms with flush toilets and showers.

Registration applications are due immediately along with a $100 deposit.
