Zion Christian School, 3300 Canfield Road, plans a kindergarten open house from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday.

The school accepts EdChoice vouchers. Hot lunches and before- and after-school programs are included in tuition, as is day care on snow days and some holidays.

The school provides quality instruction in math, language arts, science, social studies, health and Bible stories.

The curriculum will be implementing state standards.

The school also offers small classes to allow more one-on-one instruction in a safe, Christian learning environment.

Children who are age 5 on or before Sept. 30 are eligible.

CCW Academy sets annual event

The CCW Academy will conduct its 36th annual open house from 9 a.m. to noon March 26. The public is welcome.

Registration will taken place during the open house for children age 21/2 to 5 years old.

A before- and after-school care program is also available for school-age children. Busing is available.

The school is at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 585 Sanderson Ave.

Kindergarten registration/screening for all city school-district students and eligible open-enrollment students will be by appointment only Friday and March 21, 22 and 25 at Jackson Elementary School, 522 Emma St.

Kindergarten registration packets are available between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. weekdays at the school, or may be downloaded at www.nilescityschools.org.

Registrations taken at St. Patrick School

St. Patrick School is accepting kindergarten registration for the 2011-12 school year. Students entering kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 30.

Students with birth dates after Sept. 30 will be looked at on an individual basis based on the screening process.

Kindergarten screening will be May 17 starting at 8:30 a.m. Screenings are by appointment and the student must be registered before screening.

To register, bring a copy of the child’s updated immunization records, a copy of his or her Social Security card, a copy of the child’s birth certificate, baptismal certificate, if applicable, and a copy of legal custody papers, if applicable.

If your child received services that were described as an individual educational plan such as an IEP or Service Plan, bring a copy of the most recent IEP and review.

Youngstown ABLE offers GED testing

Youngstown Adult Basic and Literacy Education Program, University System of Ohio, offers morning GED two-day testing at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Choffin Career and Technical Center.

All participants must be pre-registered and bring photo identification.
