Austintown trike-a-thon to benefit St. Jude

The Growing Place Preschool, 2432 S. Raccoon Road, will host a St. Jude Trike-A-Thon Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Children will be riding around a homemade town with a pizza and lemonade stand, grocery store, car wash, park, bank, hospital, police station and church. The event will teach children riding-toy safety, while raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Æ.

“Every child saved at St. Jude means children saved around the world — a direct result of cutting-edge research and treatment that set the standard in treating deadly childhood disease,” said Debby Daus, coordinator of the event.

“Through events like Trike-A-Thon, Austintown supports the St. Jude mission of finding cures and saving children everywhere.”

A tradition for more than 25 years, Trike-A-Thon is a fun, week-long curriculum for day care centers and pre-schools. Children learn riding-toy safety lessons through a series of interactive stories from special characters, Bikewell Bear Æ and Pedals the Bunny Æ, while raising money for St. Jude.

At the end of Trike-A-Thon week, children bring their trikes or riding-toys to school and practice the safety lessons they have learned.

The Austintown community can sponsor children in the Trike-A-Thon by pledging a donation. For information, call Debby Daus at 330-759-0509.
