U.S. marshals arrest fugitive in Farmdale

Staff report

FARMDALE

U.S. marshals arrested Christopher Williams, 31, at a residence in the 4000 block of state Route 88 in Farmdale after a brief standoff with officers Wednesday afternoon.

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force had been looking for Williams since January 2010 when he was indicted by a federal grand jury on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to a release from the U.S. Department of Justice.

In May 2010, Williams was featured as one of the task force’s original “Dangerous Dozen” and also had been named as one of the most wanted fugitives in Warren during last summer’s V-GRIP (Violence and Gun Reduction and Interdiction Program) Operation, the release stated.

Williams is being held in federal custody pending an arraignment in U.S. District Court.

Williams is the second federal fugitive arrested in the Mahoning Valley on Wednesday. Thomas E. Nickerson, 23, of West Boston Avenue, was arrested by the task force Wednesday afternoon on West Boston Avenue.
